Seen On The Morning Run

The harbour at St. John's, Newfoundland, seen while climbing Signal Hill, at about 07:00. The run down signal hill was much more pleasant, even despite the rain.

St Johns is such a wonderful town. It also has my favourite coffee shop in the whole world - Coffee and Company on Water Street. If you get the chance, Mike, check it out.

St. John's was amazing. In one day we went from an organ recital at the Anglican cathedral to a jazz jam at a downtown pub, with all manner of other live music to chose from. Very friendly locals. Kay and I were at the Harbour reading a local history sign when this fellow comes up and starts telling us about his life working on the docks. It took us a minute to get used to his accent, but he was wonderfully friendly and chatty. Lots of folks here like that. We didn't discover Coffee and Company but we did find a place called The Rocket Bakery which was pretty fine. Maybe on our way back we pursue this tip.

Great spot for a run/walk. I seem to recall a few spots on the outside where meeting someone going the other way was a bit iffy and the harbour seemed both near to my feet and very far away.
