Today's military goat in the news is Taffy, the mascot of 2nd Battalion, The Royal Welsh, who was on hand to greet spectators at the London Olympics. This image courtesy of the UK MOD's website. Sadly, British Army Training Unit Suffield, where I currently work, does not have a goat.

Lovely post Padre. As I'm sure you're well aware, our local regiment the Sherwood Foresters, or rather the Mercians these days, has a ram known as Lance Corporal Derby. He was promoted to L Cpl last year foe good behaviour...
All units of the Spanish Foreign Legiion have one. I did not know this was the case in other armies
