This photo was take during a breather alongside the South Saskatchewan River at Strathcona Island Park in Medicine Hat last Friday, 13 April As you can see, spring has come to the river, the ice and snow are gone, and those are actually birds in the water, who seem quite happy about the coming of spring. For those readers who don't know this part of Alberta, this gives you a sense of the river walls, or coulees, that are a distinctive part of the badlands landscape here.

ReplyDeleteSid, it's amazing how many folks come over from the UK to train here and think that the prairies are quite boring. Admittedly it's not "stunning" the way that the Rockies are, four hours to the west. However, there are incredibly beautiful things to see, amazing contrasts, massive skies. It's all rather grown on me.
Yep, I was born and bred in the Prairies, have lived in many places around the world but I have always loved coming home.

It is a huge sky. Sometimes when I am out cycling on the prairie it's like the whole universe is above me, but not in an oppressive sense.
